At Metricon, we are proud to team up with experienced developers in quality estates across Queensland, including Brisbane and the Gold Coast. For first home buyers in Queensland, choosing a Metricon house and land package means living in an area that is built with families in mind. Building a new home in a family-friendly estate also means you will be close to the services and facilities you need, such as schools, transport and open space. At Metricon, we want first home buyers in Queensland to love where they live, and that means helping them find the perfect address from the start.
First home buyers in Queensland can get access to the first home grant from the Queensland Government, whether you are buying or building. A first home buyer’s grant in Queensland is designed to help first home buyers in Queensland get into their first home sooner. First home buyers in Queensland who sign a contract after July 1, 2018 can get $15,000 to go towards their dream home, as long as that property is valued at less than $750,000. Contracts dated earlier may still be eligible for a home buyers grant under certain circumstances.
First home buyers in Queensland will need to meet a few eligibility criteria if they want to access the first home buyers grant in Queensland. They must be at least 18 and an Australian citizen or permanent resident. The grant is for residential home, or principal places of residence, not investment properties. To be eligible for the first home buyers grant in Queensland, you or your spouse must not have owned a home before that you lived in, and you must be buying or building a brand-new home.
Entering the property market for the first time can be daunting, but Metricon is here to help first home buyers in Queensland. There can be a few unexpected costs associated with buying or building a home, such as Lenders Mortgage Insurance or stamp duty. The good news is, when you’re building a new home in Queensland, you will pay less stamp duty than someone who is buying an existing house. That’s because stamp duty for first home buyers in Queensland, and buyers everywhere, is only charged on the land and not the house when you are buying a house and land package. This can save you thousands of dollars. There may be a small transfer or transaction fee involved. Generally, stamp duty needs to be paid within 30 days of the day you sign contracts, but most banks and lenders will require it at settlement.
