Grab that feather duster because spring is upon us and there is nothing better than a little sunshine to encourage us to update our interior and add a touch of life to the home.
If you’ve been gripped by the winter blues, then read ahead as we share four easy ways to freshen up your home for the warmer months.

Fresh flowers in the home is without a doubt the simplest way to add a little bit of life to your interior. It really makes a home feel lived in and not to mention can add a pop of colour to an otherwise dull room - you can’t go wrong with flowers. If you find fresh blooms a bit of a pain, having to swap them out each week and change water, then there is a huge range of artificial flowers and plants available. Gone are the days of terrible faux flowers, most homeware stores carry a great range of quality and life like options.
Cushions, Throws, Linen

If you’re needing a bit of a pick me up around the home, take it room by room. Change your bed covers over and add a fresh cushion into the mix. Do the same with your living room. Pack your heavy knitted throws away and look for a linen option to style with. It seems like every major homeware store stocks a great and very affordable cushion range now. Grab a suction bag and pop those dark cushions away for a few months because floral and block colours work great in the spring and summer months. Make your room feel inviting, but remember to tie it back to your current décor, you can always find something that will work.

Change out some of your photos around the home. Update the oldies with some current photos. New friends, family members, and even pets. Printing photos is an affordable option, try creating a photo wall using your favourite images. Make sure you use your level and measuring tape, because there is nothing more frustrating then walking past a crooked frame each day.

Move it or Lose it

Move some artwork around the house. The old print that’s been in the living room since you moved in, move it to the hall way, or swap the prints in the bedrooms around. Sometimes just relocating a few things around to a new location can change the entire aesthetic to the room without costing you a dime. If your room layout allows for moving furniture around then give it a shot, the worst thing you’ll have to do is move it back. At least you’ll have an excuse to vacuum under the couch or bed. You know what they say, a change is as good as a holiday!

A few other things to try:

  • Hide all the fridge magnets. This will change the entire look of the kitchen! Wipe over the front and the inside of your fridge draws and shelves and you won’t know yourself.
  • Clean the windows and let the sunshine in! Following the rain and the dirty weather of the cooler months, you won’t believe how a clean window can freshen up your room.
  • If you have your tea towels hanging on your oven like me, treat yourself to a couple of new ones. Not only will they transform your kitchen looking clean and fresh, but you will wonder why you haven’t done this sooner.
  • Grab yourself an oil diffuser, get your home smelling gorgeous and reap the health benefits of essential oils.
Spring is the perfect time for a change or a fresh start. Implementing just one or two of these ideas can make your home look great, and make you feel pretty good too.
