Bayville brings Hamptons style to Sydney’s Northern Beaches

Metricon

Hamptons style is all about understated elegance and timeless sophistication. And New South Wales’ latest Signature by Metricon show home, The Bayville, captures it beautifully. With neutral tones, a focus on natural materials and airy, open-plan living areas, this stunning residence brings a touch of Long Island luxury to Sydney’s sprawling Northern Beaches.

“The Bayville is inspired by The Hamptons, so it’s got a very classic design,” Metricon’s senior interior designer Melissa Colley says of the design, which draws on the flexible, free-flowing living defined upstate New York's island neighbour. “It’s a blend of 1920s glamour and contemporary country charm that is at the same time relaxed and refined, laid-lack and luxurious.”

This fusion of classic and contemporary elements, paired with open-plan spaces and luxury finishes is what creates the relaxed elegance for which Hamptons style has become synonymous.

On entry, an almost six-metre void sets a striking scene and flows seamlessly into the wide hallway, where an open timber staircase adds to the sense of spaciousness and splendour. Rich, walnut timber floors are juxtaposed with a crisp interior palette, imbuing a sense of warmth and welcoming, and highlighting the laid-back coastal lifestyle the Bayville was designed to inspire.

From the flow of the floorplan to the finer details, every aspect has been carefully considered to capture the essence of the Hamptons.

“From an external perspective, we've tried to emulate Hamptons design with the cladding on the outside, the portal windows, the stone that’s used on the piers,” Mel says. “And, when you come inside, it’s very much the shaker doors, the timber lining we use on the ceilings, that very soft colour palette; even down to the architraves and skirting boards that have that detail in them. It’s quite casual but there is also a very sophisticated feel in this home as well.”

Though the Hamptons look might be synonymous with classic style, Melissa says there are plenty of ways to introduce contemporary elements. "We’ve used a mix of black and metallic accents to give the Bayville a bit more of a modern feel," she says. "Within the cabinetry handles, lighting fixtures, window treatments and even the staircase - those pops of black and metal really help to create contrast and interest as you’re walking through the home." Mel says the Bayville’s focus on indoor-outdoor living is another key aspect of the design, and is part of what makes it such an attractive home to buyers across the country.

“This is effortless living at its finest,” she says. “Having those spaces flow through to the outdoor areas is really important for that indoor-outdoor lifestyle that really is part of the way that we live here. With the high ceilings and full-height doors, everything opens up and it’s such a wonderful space to have family and friends over and entertain. You just feel like you’re at home right from when you walk in the door."

The Bayville is located at 807 Pittwater Road, Dee Why.
