Metricon celebrates a historic decade as Australia's number one home builder

Wednesday, 24 September 2025

Media Release

Metricon has been named Australia’s number one home builder for the 10th consecutive year with the release of the HIA COLORBOND® Steel Housing Top 100 Report. This milestone marks a historic decade of leadership, with close to 48,000 homes delivered nationally over the past ten years.

The 2024/25 report, released today in Melbourne, confirms Metricon secured the top position with 4,015 site starts across Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australia, representing a 3.1% increase on the 3,894 starts reported in 2023/24.

“This is the first year of growth in Metricon site starts since 2019/20, signalling renewed momentum in what has been a highly challenging market,” said Brad Duggan, Metricon CEO.

“To achieve ten consecutive years as Australia’s number one builder is an extraordinary milestone — one that speaks to our unwavering commitment to quality, affordability, and customer trust.”

“Over the past decade, 48,000 Australians have chosen Metricon to build their home, significantly more than any other builder, and that trust is the foundation of our business.”

Metricon has proudly been named a 2025 Product Review Award Winner, reinforcing its customer-first approach and strong reputation for helping Australians ‘love where they live’.

“This award highlights our ongoing focus on customer satisfaction, quality, and affordability,” Duggan said. “Regardless of rankings, our purpose remains the same — building outstanding homes that Australians love.”

“We’re not just focused on being the biggest builder. We want to be the best and most trusted builder in the eyes of our customers,” Duggan said.

“Over the next 12 months, we’ll continue to invest in innovation, streamline efficiencies, and keep affordability front and centre to make home ownership achievable for more Australians.”

Metricon now holds ISO 9001 certification, an internationally recognised quality management standard. This certification demonstrates Metricon’s commitment to quality management across the entire business so that we can deliver excellent quality homes to ensure our customers love where they live.

“Our leadership reflects our ability to adapt to different markets and deliver innovative home designs that suit a diverse range of Australians,” Duggan said.

Despite the milestone, Duggan renewed calls for urgent housing reform.

“To deliver the homes Australians need, we must tackle planning red tape and land supply bottlenecks. Industry, government, and community must work together to restore confidence and get the country building again.”
