Discover the French-inspired La Pyrenee

Metricon

Many Aussies have a lust for all things French – champagne, Brie, and Chanel. There is something inherently chic and stylish, and therefore highly coveted, about the French way of life. But it is the proliferation of French style homes that are popping up on streets throughout Australia that take this trend to a new level. Whether it’s on Sydney’s harbour side shores or in the leafy green suburbs of Melbourne, Australians are turning to the elegant custom of French design for their home inspiration.

One such home design is Metricon’s La Pyrenee. Inspired by the sophistication and style of French Baroque influences this home features an incredible master suite and spacious living areas, with a beautiful sweeping staircase as its centrepiece. The delicate details combine perfectly with the opulence and functional planning to create a truly outstanding home.

Classic French Baroque home style

The Baroque style originated in Italy but became very popular in France during the reign of Louis XIV. There is no wonder, as during his government France became one of the most influential countries in the world and Baroque, with its grandeur and pomposity, was the perfect style to demonstrate its power.

The French Baroque home was characterised by an aspiration for greatness and splendour. Traditional features were massive staircases, columns, and pillars. Interiors were decorated with coloured marble, sculptures, stucco and carvings, and mirrors and paintings were used to visually expand the space. Walls usually hung with expensive fabrics and tapestries, and colours such as blues, greens, reds and gold were favourites for soft furnishings. Symmetry was used both internally and externally, which gave this home design a formal look.

Internal features of La Pyrenee

La Pyrenee is a fresh take on the French Baroque classic and provides a perfect blend of function and form, tradition and modernity.

  • Sweeping spiral staircase with cast iron detail
  • Enormous kitchen with marble bench tops and ample storage
  • Kitchenette upstairs – great for entertaining and multi-generational living
  • Grand Master suite with huge walk-in robe plus study area – akin to a hotel suite
  • Four other spacious bedrooms – two with ensuites
  • Gold and marble detail throughout the home

External Features of La Pyrenee

Externally, La Pyrenee holds true to the formality of symmetry and the grandeur of columns and carvings:

  • Mouldings and columns add magnificence to the exterior
  • Large outdoor area with a sitting room next to the pool
  • Water features can be seen from every window on the ground floor making for beautiful focal points from the inside of the home.
  • Wrought iron balconies from which to survey the surroundings
  • A portico provides a grand entrance

La Pyrenee is truly a magnificent tip of the beret to the stylish French home design of centuries past, with enough modernity to please the most discerning Australian family.
