Pantone recently released their Colour of the Year for 2018 and it’s all about Violet - Ultra Violet.

Every year, US-based colour authority Pantone identifies a key hue that will tinge the next twelve months. In 2017, the colour tone was Greenery, which was all about refreshing and revitalising shades of green - symbolic of new beginnings. Pantone’s colour choice for 2018 - which is set to influence interior design in the coming year, is dramatic and provocative of thoughtful and visionary thinking.

Pantone describes the colour as ‘complex and contemplative’ eluding to ‘the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead.’

Laurie Pressman, vice-president of the Pantone Colour Institute, said: “The Pantone colour of the year has come to mean so much more than ‘what’s trending’ in the world of design; it’s truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today.”

While Pantone’s Colour of the Year may not be for everyone, we can appreciate its connection to pop-culture and its ability to provoke 'imagination and inventiveness.' If this colour is for you, we are certain there will be some fantastic wallpapers, materials and furniture coming to market this year with strong ultra violet influences.
