3 Timeless bathroom styles

Metricon

While the bathroom does tend to be one of the smallest spaces in the home, there’s no reason why it can’t be one of the most blissful spaces to spend time in.

With the correct styling, you can create a zone that is reminiscent of a serene day spa, a stylish retreat to relax and soothe the senses. We spend a great deal of time in this intimate space. It needs to be practical in terms of design and layout and careful attention should be paid to the lifestyle needs of those that will be using the space.

Storage, space and lighting are essential design elements that impact the functional aspect of this room. Finally, thought needs to be given to the overall mood and atmosphere you want the room to generate.

We’ve put together our top three bathroom styles that we think are the essence of a sophisticated, glamorous, yet blissful bathroom that we’d love to soak in. Here’s how you can achieve these bathroom styles that are anything but boring.

Simple monochrome for maximum style

If you are looking to add sophistication to your bathroom a monochromatic colour palette is guaranteed to do this. Black and white is timeless and makes a classic statement with its dramatic contrast. A white base of marble or stone applied to tiles and benchtops can be complemented with black tapware, whilst the use of dark timber cabinetry can add warmth and texture.

Geometric patterns in styling elements such as towel sets or a footstool can add further depth and interest. For further inspiration on this bathroom design trend or to see this style come to life, visit our Black Label Lookbook.

A bathroom for mind body balance

Begin or end your day in an environment of calm and tranquility. Bring balance to the bathroom by bringing the natural wonders of the outdoors in. Tiles in muted tones of nature like cream, camel and chocolate blend perfectly with cabinetry in exposed woodgrain.

Timber elements give warmth and texture and work well with charcoal toned tiles to create a sleek, more contemporary bathroom. A modern edge comes through with chrome tapware and light fittings. Style this look with organic straw baskets, towels in off whites or rusty reds and introduce some greenery to bring the room to life. Contemporary Art Deco

Step back to a time of ultimate elegance and glamour. Crisp, gloss white tiles or stone panels create a space that’s fresh, airy and bright. White cabinetry, with clean lines are paired with reflective
stone or marble surfaces that add to the sophisticated timeless style.

Circular fixtures and fittings, such as mirrors and tapware in bold black or gold will reflect the art deco influence, but maintain a
contemporary edge. This look can be finished off with some elegant wall lighting, a practical design element that adds to the glamour of gettingready. For further style inspiration on this design trend, visit our Southampton Lookbook.

Contemporary Art Deco is one of our favourites. If you’d like to see how this style comes to life, watch Chris Carroll of The Life Creative, who recently spoke with Metricon’s Senior Interior Designer, Jacinta Evans on location in Brighton, Victoria, at our Bayville by Metricon.
