Metricon tops HIA's Housing 100 as Number One Australian Builder for fourth year in a row

Media release

Metricon has been named Australia’s number one home builder for the fourth year in a row with the release of the HIA COLORBOND® Steel Housing Top 100 Report today at the 2019 HIA Construction Outlook Breakfast in Melbourne.

The HOUSING TOP 100 report, which ranks Australia’s top 100 residential builders based on the number of home builds commenced each year, saw Metricon top the list with a total of 4,473 starts, across Victoria, Queensland, NSW and South Australia.

Peter Langfelder, Metricon Director, and an attendee at this morning’s event said “We are delighted to be ranked number one for the fourth consecutive year and to have grown Metricon’s share of the national residential build market in difficult times. This is testament to our national team, our passion for what we do, and the Australian families we do it for.

“Our customers have and always will be our top priority, and it is a privilege that Australian home buyers continue to trust us with the most important purchase of their lives. It’s what drives us to continually improve design, construction and customer care,” Peter said.

Although Metricon’s overall site starts were slightly down from 2017/18, the business has maintained its strong foothold in residential home building despite unfavourable market conditions. It grew market share in a contracting market, increasing its lead between first and second place.

“We’re committed to building homes to suit evolving customer needs and budgets and believe the diversity of our designs and price-points means we’ve been able to maintain relevance for customers in a market that has experienced significant downturn. Across our brands, we really do have a home for every Australian family.”

“Although 2018/19 was a tough year, it’s Metricon’s belief that there is still strong demand for quality home builds Australia-wide and we’re confident that our business model, coupled with our commitment to innovation and customer service, will enable our continued leadership.” Mr Langfelder concluded.
