Metricon has now cemented its position as a leader in the home building market. But our journey began over 30 years ago in 1976 when we founded Metricon and set up our first offices in Caulfield, Melbourne. Now with a team of more than 600, we are immensely proud of our company today. We are both still actively involved in the business and look forward eagerly to the next chapter in our exciting journey.
Metricon started as a boutique builder of homes with a focus on land development, construction of commercial buildings and house and land packages in Victoria. However our passion for design and construction, and the drive to become the market leader, has always driven us to evolve with market trends and identify new opportunities for growth. One such trend was the move to master planned lifestyle communities that are close to water. During the 1980s, for example, we acquired appropriate areas in northern New South Wales and Queensland.
Or again, following the increased activity and population growth in regional hubs in Victoria, we commenced a successful housing operation serving regional Victoria during 2003. We never ‘rest on our laurels’. Our commitment to continually delivering innovative living solutions means each year we launch new home designs offering the ever-evolving Australian family an extensive range of contemporary, high quality and spacious designs.
We strongly believe in delivering a range of lifestyle options in our chosen markets. Our Metricon Developments team delivers integrated housing precincts, residential communities and medium density projects, ensuring we have a product to suit a wide variety of needs and budgets. This business is extremely complementary to our contract homes operations, leveraging our core business competencies.
Our focus is growing increasingly on servicing more of our customers’ needs. Studio m, our leading selection centre and Metricon Financial Services, are just two recent examples of this. Our aim is to make the journey of selecting a new home as enjoyable and complete as possible. We also now have complete operation teams in QLD and NSW.
