New website lets you play designer

Metricon Homes has responded to a growing desire for customers to be able to “play” with the major design elements of their new home, even before they phone a builder or visit a display centre.

Studiom.com.au, named after the builder’s highly-renowned selection centres, means customers can now jump onto the website and research designs, and also create their own personalised package of floorplan, facade, fixtures, and even appliances, surfaces, wall and cabinetry selections and floor coverings. People can now see what their preferred home will look like in much more detail than ever before, even down to matching their existing couches and cushions to possible colour schemes.

Metricon’s head interior designer Danielle Taylor explained:

“Using the Envisage tool at studiom.com.au, we really have put a much more powerful design tool in the hands of customers. It also highlights how design is really at the heart of everything we do. Creative and visually-impactful design turns every house into a home - into a wonderfully satisfying personal statement for the owners. For many people, they are able for the very first time to visualise a home that they will truly love, with no compromises. And if anyone finds it difficult to imagine what the final result of their home search will look like, this is the answer.”

The new website is much more than a fun toy. When customers have finished with the thrill of playing with all the design elements, they can actually print out a preliminary list of their selections, so that when they visit a sales consultant at a display centre the process is easier and quicker.

But the “Envisage” section of this amazing new website is just the beginning. You will also find a vast array of other resources. Interested in the latest trends in roofing? Just go to the section on roofing and choose which manufacturer’s articles you would like to research. What about eco-friendly design and energy conservation? You’ll find heaps of useful tips. Indeed, there are a wonderful array of articles from some of Australia’s leading building suppliers, full of useful technical detail and suggestions about making the best of their products. Customers can even send in queries on specific topics that interest them. It’s like having your own personal building consultant or interior designer, except that like the rest of the website, the service is absolutely free.

Metricon’s General Manager of Marketing, Yvonne Abood added:

“Customers are much better informed than some years ago. The better understanding customers have of the design and build process, the smoother their purchase will be. We truly share the thrill people have in building a new home, and the best possible reference we can have is a customer who says “I really love everything about my new home”. So I would strongly recommend anyone considering building a new home, to jump onto studiom.com.au. It’s deliberately designed to be an easy and intuitive interface to put much more control back in the hands of customers – and without them outlaying a cent.”
