Metricon is pleased to announce that it has extended its sponsorship of the Geelong Football Umpires League for seasons 2008 and 2009, following a successful partnership since 2006.
Metricon Area Sales Manager – Geelong, Simon Taylor, said that over the last few years, Metricon has built a strong affiliation with the League.
“We are pleased to be a major sponsor of such a fabulous sporting organisation,” said Simon.
“The new agreement we have signed this year is a reflection of our continuing commitment to being part of the local community in which we operate.
“Since we commenced business in the area, we have established solid and lasting relationships with the local Geelong community. This includes supporting community organisations and recruiting local staff, suppliers and tradespeople whenever we can.
“The League represents a large number of umpires and supports young talent which we fully endorse.”
Bill Fulton, General Manager for the League, said that he is thrilled that Metricon has decided to sponsor the League for another 2 years, giving the League an opportunity to focus on training and developing local umpires, rather than financial concerns.
“The Umpires League is a non-profit organisation, so any sponsorship we receive is a real bonus for local umpiring,” said Bill.
“Metricon has established itself as a fabulous builder in the area and with plans for further expansion, our League provides an excellent medium for Metricon’s exposure.
“We are the biggest country umpires league in Victoria with an annual average membership of over 300. Our umpires are out on the field every weekend, umpiring in excess of 100 games which not only covers Geelong and the surrounding district, but extends to Werribee and Colac.”
The Geelong Football Umpires League provides umpires to the Geelong Football League, Bellarine Football League, Geelong and District Football League and Geelong Junior Football League.
