With the severe drought continuing to affect a large number of farmers and businesses across Victoria, Metricon has committed to a “Drought Relief Program” that will assist families in the Shepparton, Echuca and Cobram regions with much-needed resources.
The Program will raise up to $100,000 over the next 12 months. Metricon will donate these funds from each home sale from the Shepparton and Echuca regions.
Metricon’s Shepparton New Homes Consultant, Natalie Heath, suggested that with the support of St. Vincent De Paul Society, Metricon will make a difference to the lives of people in the area who are suffering the dual impact of drought and a tightening economy.
“The lack of water is a real issue that’s affected the areas we are operating in, with farming families that have been forced to move from their homes, horticultural businesses that have closed and those who can’t afford to provide food, clothing or school books and uniforms for their children,” said Natalie. “The aim of our Program is to support targeted areas with these basic necessities and to improve their lives.
In 2004, Metricon commenced operations in regional Victoria and has established lasting relationships with the local community. This includes supporting sporting clubs, community organisations and recruiting local staff, suppliers and tradespeople whenever we can. This commitment now includes the Drought Relief Program.”
St. Vincent de Paul is a not-for-profit organisation that consists of members and volunteers assisting more than 660,000 people in need each year within their local communities.
“We are delighted about our new partnership with St. Vincent de Paul, a unique organisation that performs invaluable work and shares the same commitment to supporting regional communities. Volunteers from this wonderful organisation have visited families, farmers and businesses in the Shepparton, Echuca and Cobram regions and identified what their urgent needs are. Metricon will donate $100,000 towards meeting some of those requirements and volunteers from St. Vincent de Paul will deliver a range of supplies. The first lot of parcels being food packages which will be distributed accordingly,” enthused Natalie.
Bernie Trevaskis, Senior Vice President of St. Vincent De Paul North Eastern Central Council, said that he is equally excited about the Drought Relief Program that Metricon has created and looks forward to working together to help people in the area who are really suffering.
“Metricon has an excellent reputation in Shepparton for giving back to the community through sponsorships and Programs like this one. We believe the Drought Relief Program will further enhance its dedication and profile as a company that produces a range of innovative and award-winning designs,” encourages Bernie.
