Comic relief for a very special cause

Some of Australia’s funniest comedians are showing their support for Very Special Kids by donating their time and talent to a Metricon comedy festival preview night at the Comics Lounge, North Melbourne on Tuesday 29 March.

Audiences will be treated to a hilarious night that will be jam packed with the cream of Australian comics including Bob Franklin, Adam Richard, Dave Callan, Gab Rossi and Ben Price.

Metricon is a major partner of the Very Special Kids’ Piggy Bank Appeal and they are hosting the night to raise money for this unique Victorian charity. The annual Piggy Bank Appeal aims to raise more than $1 million so Very Special Kids can continue providing services to more than 850 Victorian families who are caring for children with life-threatening illnesses.

All five premier comedians have kindly donated their time to the event with the iconic Comics Lounge opening the doors to their great venue free of charge to support Very Special Kids.

Steve Lee from The Comic's Lounge said that “The Comic's Lounge is committed to giving back to the Melbourne community and the best way we can do that is by giving the gift of laughter.

“We and all the comedians that are performing are very happy that we can be involved and help make a difference to families caring for a child with a life-threatening illness”, said Steve.

Metricon’s General Manager of Marketing Yvonne Abood said that, “Comedy becomes a bit of an obsession for Melbournians in March when we are lucky enough to experience the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. We decided to leverage that interest to help raise funds for our corporate charity partner and give our employees, friends, family and the general public the chance to preview some fantastic comedy acts just a few days before the Comedy Festival opens, all while supporting a very special charity.”
